Michael L. Edwards

Michael L. Edwards was born in Indianapolis, IN on August 1, 1943 to Elroy and Josephine Edwards.  Affectionately known as “Mike” he was the youngest of two children born into this union and caretaker of the family.

Shortly after school, Mike enlisted in the Army.  His military experience fostered his love for travel, nature and thirst for knowledge.  He was decorated as an rifle expert and earned his parachutist badge before his honorable discharge. Soon after, he met and formed a union with Beverly Jane Ellis that lasted over 49 years.  Together, Mike and Beverly raised 3 daugthters Robin, Joy and Michele.  He was always excited to share his adventerous spirit with his family – taking yearly vacations and camping trips often.  Mike loved to fish, ride motorcyles and drive cross country to beautiful destinations from California and Niagra Falls to close ones like Cedar Point , Put-In-Bay and Florida.  He received great pleasure capturing his family’s joy in home movies using his newest technology.

Mike had a long tenure with the Chrysler Corporation. Throughout his career there, he seeked higher education in the automotive field and earned a Certificate in Foundry Modernization before his retirement in 1992.    

Mike yearned for the truth in all aspects of life.  He was an avid reader who studied the word daily and never missed an opportunity to share the Watchtower teachings with others.  He was the very definition of self-sacrifcing - always putting others before himself and never expecting anything in return.  He valued experiences and being of service over things and donated his time, money and efforts to others.  Outside of family and friends, Mike loved football, boxing and sweet potatoe pie! In recent years, he enjoyed cooking and perfecting his Great Northen Beans and Hammock recipe. 

Michael L. Edwards passed peacefully on Friday, October 18, 2019 at 76 years old.   Throughout his life, Mike practiced his most important virtues of faith, work ethic and mental fortitude.  His generosity, wisdom, contagious smile and heart of gold will never be forgotten.

Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly J. Edwards, his granddaughter, Erin O. Edinowe and great-granddaughter Delylah Noel Moody. As well as, as his brothers Elroy & Waymond, sister Elizabeth and parents Elroy and Josephine.
